Beyoncé’s mother is a hairdresser, and she passed on her love for hair and hair care to her daughter.
42-year-old American singer Beyoncé, who made a breakthrough career on stage, in the production field, and launched a successful clothing brand, has now ventured into the beauty industry and launched her hair care line, Cécred. In the new issue of Essence magazine, she showed off a series of spectacular hair-centered looks. In this way, she announced to the world that her new brand is suitable for all types and styles of hair.

The publication offers two different covers of the issue: on one, the artist’s long blonde hair is styled straight and wrapped around her neck like a scarf, and Beyoncé is wearing a navy blue top.
On the other, she has soft curls gathered in a high bun. Beyoncé is wearing a turquoise turtleneck, which she accessorized with diamond earrings.
The photos also feature the singer’s 70-year-old mother, Tina Knowles, as well as her daughters, Blue Ivy and Rumi. It was her mother who instilled in the singer a love for hair, as she worked in a hair salon.
“I saw her washing her hair with shampoo and cutting her hair, transforming women, making them feel really good. Looking back, I understand that it was more than just a hair salon – it was therapy,” recalls the heroine of the number.
In the same hairdressing salon, she realized that she wanted a different future for herself.
“It was at her salon that I realized my dream of becoming an artist, inspired by one of her clients who turned out to be an opera singer. I was captivated by her stories about a recent trip to Germany. With awe, I clearly remember telling my mother that I wanted to be one just like her client,” Beyoncé continued.
Tina took part in her daughter’s photo shoot, reflecting on the journey they took together to take the next big step.

“Hair has always been a big part of our lives. Just like fashion saved our family, hair is how we make a living. In black culture, from the beginning, if you know how to do your hair, you’ll never go broke. I said it’s to my kids. My mom told me that. So it’s just our legacy, and this full-circle moment feels awesome,” Tina shared.
Beyoncé has been able to learn from the best hairdressers in the world, and she understands that hair cannot be one-size-fits-all.
“We can wear our hair natural, straight, in braids, weaves, and wigs. There is power in self-expression and in feeling free to appear however we want, with whatever hair we choose. For me, joy comes from making myself and my hair a priority. It’s really important for me to make time for the sacred rituals of self-care,” the star emphasized.
