Painting French Nails: DIY Instructions for Nail Styling

French nails are absolutely timeless and make nails look extremely polished.

How can you do French nails yourself? We’ll show you!

Step 1: File nails into the desired shape

Square, pointed, or spade-shaped? Decide on a shape and then get to work with a fine-grain file. For the classic look, it is recommended that the nail extend at least three millimeters beyond the fingertip, but it should not be very long; otherwise, the manicure will lose its natural charm.

Step 2: Care for your hands

What good is a nail, no matter how carefully painted it is, if your hands appear dry and cracked? Pamper your skin with a nourishing hand bath and prepare your fingers for the subsequent manicure. Our tip: Mix a few drops of olive oil or rich nail oil into the warm water. After about five minutes, dry your fingers well with a towel.

Step 3: Treat cuticles

After the bath, the cuticles are soft and can be pushed back more easily. It is best to use cuticle removers, which enable a gentle procedure. Be careful with this step to avoid inflammation.

Step 4: Paint white tips

Remove any oil residue from your fingers before you start nail art. A nail polish remover is suitable for this. Place the stencils in the desired position on the finger. Make sure that there are no air bubbles underneath that the paint could run into. Apply the white paint and let it dry completely. Only then do you remove the templates again. If you have a steady hand and are practiced, you can paint the nail tips freehand.

Do you want more extravagance?

French-style nails don’t always have to be white. For a change, design the tips in dark red, glamorous black,, or gold tones, and give your hands eye-catching accents!

Step 5: Paint the base

After the tips have dried, the base coat comes on. For the typical French nail look, choose a semi-transparent version in a delicate rose or nude tone.

Spropitné: Cooler pink tones look great on fair skin. Women with tanned skin like pink tones with a beige touch

Then a clear topcoat comes into play as a finish, and your hands will shine with a new look.

Step 6: Massage nail oil

Finally, treat your hands with some special care. To do this, massage nail oil into the skin and enjoy the sight of perfectly manicured fingers!

Are there any unusual French nail designs?

French nails have a white tip and a pink base, so you can definitely customize your design. Pastels, nudes, or even bolder options like red or black can add a unique twist to your nails. There are no hard-and-fast rules as to which colors go with French nails; experiment and find the look that suits you.

How long are French nails?

You take a lot of time for your manicure; apply all layers carefully and let them dry well. The first corner fell off. Our tried-and-tested tips will tell you how nail polish lasts longer:

Remove grease: The nail is always slightly greasy, even if you haven’t applied any cream or oil to your hands. So don’t forget to clean the surface with nail polish remover or 70 percent alcohol.
Do not apply it to wet fingers. Washing your hands and showering will get moisture into the nail. So wait before you start painting.
Use basecoat: A basecoat protects the nail from discoloration and provides an optimal base for the subsequent color.
Several thin layers: If you want a glossy look, it is better to apply the polish several times, sparingly.
Top coat: A top coat creates a beautiful shine and also extends the durability of the colored nail design.

When removing French nails, it is important that you treat your nails gently to avoid possible damage. Here are some tips to help you remove French nails easily:

Start by cleaning the surface of your nails with nail polish remover to remove excess oil. Avoid having wet fingers when removing nail polish, as moisture can make it difficult to remove.

Use a gentle nail polish remover and leave it on the nails for a while to soften the polish. You can then carefully wipe off the polish with a nail polish remover pad or a cotton swab. After removing your French nails, don’t forget to treat your nails with nail oil to moisturize and strengthen them.
