Princess Madeleine once again stayed away from the Nobel Prize, although she has recently been in Sweden very often.
Nobel Prize – but where was Madeleine?
It is the most important event in Sweden: When the Nobel Prizes are awarded, all eyes are not only on the winners but also on the royal family. Then Silvia (79) and Victoria (46) shine in their most beautiful robes and sparkle with their tiaras in the light of the spotlights. Only one person caused severe criticism this year due to her absence: Princess Madeleine (41) stayed away from the festival of festivals – and got herself into new trouble.

But where was Silvia’s younger daughter?
There is no exact information from the court, but it can be assumed that she was staying with her family in the USA. The mother of three has often been in her homeland in recent months, taking part in a meeting of the World Childhood Foundation in Sweden on November 29th and attending a concert with her mother and family on November 30th. Then, on December 3rd, she was seen at an Advent service at a Swedish church in Florida.
Johan T. Lindwall, editor-in-chief of the magazine “Svensk Damtidning,” is annoyed that Madeleine was not at the Nobel Festival. “We have accepted that Chris O’Neill will not be present,” he writes in his “Svensk Damtidning” column. He is annoyed that Madeleine is missing out on this important event again.
She could have gone home, attended the Nobel Prize, and returned to the United States.
But the fact is that Madeleine has shown herself in her homeland a lot this year: she spent the summer there with her children, came to Carl Gustaf’s jubilee, and attended the aforementioned childhood meeting. You should forgive her for not flying across the pond to win the Nobel Prize.
