Smokey Eyes for Eve Party Like Gold, Silver, Burgundy, and Red!
In the evening, this great classic has become as essential as the little black dress. But if it appears very evening, it can also be worn very well during the day with a little rock look, or in a muffled version for an extra level of sophistication.
STEP 1 TO MAKE SMOKEY EYES
Prepare the ground by applying a non-iridescent nude shadow (skin beige, champagne) to the entire eyelid and brow bone.
STEP 2 TO MAKE SMOKEY EYES
Choose a medium-intensity smoky shadow, such as taupe brown or slate gray, and blend it over the entire eyelid up to the brow bone. Superimpose the layers to intensify the result and add as a final touch a shadow of the same color but a bit darker on the outside of the eye and in the crease of the eyelid. Blend the shadows with your index finger.
STEP 3 TO MAKE SMOKY EYES
Highlight the fringe of the eyelashes with a black pencil, using a movement from the outer corner to the inner corner. Don’t hesitate to make a slightly thick line. Blur with your finger.
STEP 4 TO MAKE SMOKY EYES
Repeat the same operation under the eye, starting from the outer corner towards the inner corner, staying as close as possible to the fringe of the eyelashes. Blur with your finger.
STEP 5 TO MAKE SMOKY EYES
Fix the pencil by blending a black shadow over it with a fine brush. Stretch the material towards the center of the mobile eyelid.
STEP 6 TO MAKE SMOKY EYES
Reapply dark shadow (not black) in the crease of the eyelid, outside, to structure. Superimpose the layers until the desired intensity is obtained. It is better to start slowly and gradually increase your strength than to start very hard right away. As for your eyebrows, they should be well-brushed but natural. A dark eye with strong eyebrows doesn’t look modern.
SMOKY AT ANY AGE
- At 20 years old. We follow the same application technique step by step, but we have fun using color, more or less bright depending on the circumstances: plum, purple, green, electric blue, and midnight blue.
- At 30 years old. We dare to wear total black morning and evening for a real rock look that adds style and highlights the iris. In the evening, take the intensity up a notch by superimposing your daytime smoky with a black powder shadow.
- At 40 years old. We prefer brown shadows to pure black. Instead of blending dark shadows over the entire eyelid and in the crease of the orbit going back to the base of the arch, only three-quarters of the eyelid is shaded. In the crease, apply a nude shadow.
- At 50 years old. We stay even closer to the fringe of the eyelashes and soften the finish by choosing taupe, hazel, rusty brown, and slate gray tones as dark shadows. Add a touch of light eye shadow to the inner corner of the eye to open and relax the eyes.
AND ON THE MOUTH?
On the mouth, what do I coordinate with?
Yes to nude or petal pink lipsticks; with these carnal tones, it is guaranteed to be flawless because it creates a beautiful balance between the strong eyes and the more discreet mouth. Instead, choose satin or slightly glossy textures, a source of shine.
Yes, also to “healthy” raspberry shades for a more sophisticated style. A slightly strong pink, like a bitten lip, is more flattering than nude as you get older. Having an almost colorless mouth in your fifties is risky.
No, too bright reds; with the very smoky look, it looks too much, too artificial. As for very dark reds, they amplify the dark mood of the smoky, so we say a big no.
Thanks to…
It’s not a simple realization, but with a little practice, even beginners can get decent results! Smokey requires substantial eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara (or false eyelashes), and pencils in shades ready to play with each other.
Silver & gold
They are the “colors of the holidays” for excellence. How not to realize, therefore, that smokey eyes are inspired by these two precious shades?!
Burgundy Smokey Eyes
It is one of the trendy colors this season, so… also, the burgundy claims to be smokey. Here are some striking variations to choose from depending on your natural color of eyes and complexion. “Traditional,” if in combination with black or discreet gray dust, becomes sophisticated if approached in green.
Smokey Eyes “decided”
A smokey impact and a high rate of attention are in the version in red, perfect for winter nights. How do I achieve it?
